Podiatry

Walk, run, jump, play your favourite sport or daily activities with ease and without the restriction that comes with sore painful aching feet. Have you seen a Podiatrist before? A Podiatrist is able to prevent, diagnose and treat feet and lower limb conditions.

Podiatry services include:

  • Diabetes and foot health – Do you have poor circulation or loss of sensation “peripheral neuropathy” in your feet? Regular podiatry assessment/treatment is required to prevent complications associated with diabetes and foot health such as wounds and ulcers which can lead to infection and in extreme cases amputation.
  • General skin and nail care – callous, painful debilitating corns, cracked heels, problematic nails (ingrown toe nails, thickened nails and fungal nail), tinea pedis, foot odour and warts (papillomas).
  • Foot deformities – including hammer toes and bunions.
  • Forefoot, arch and heel pain.
  • Biomechanical assessment, Gait Analysis and Sports injuries – common sports related injuries include plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle sprains and Achilles tendonitis. A comprehensive gait analysis can help determine possible related causes of injury from your biomechanics (body movement).
  • Orthoses – customised, semi customised or pre-fabricated orthoses are designed to maintain good foot posture and reduce the risk of foot pathology such as plantar fasciitis and bunions from occurring.
  • Paediatrics – Common children’s foot problems include in-toeing, toe walking and flat feet. Later childhood to early teen’s heel pain known as “Severs Disease” can occur.
  • Footwear advice – ill-fitting shoes can cause a great deal of discomfort such as ingrown nails, forefoot deformity (bunions), corns, forefoot/arch and heel pain. Be sure to have the right knowledge when making your next choice of footwear.

As of this week we continue to offer exercise physiology, dietetics, psychology, podiatry and chiropractic as essential health services. Patients coming in have definitely appreciated our services and this reinforces the important role we have to play in the health system. We have been operating in the safest and responsible way which those coming in will attest to. However, we understand its not possible for everyone to make it into the clinic so last week we launched Telehealth services. A telehealth consultation can include many of the components of a normal consultation including a history, diagnosis and management plan including counselling, reassurance, exercise, nutritional, lifestyle, occupational & ergonomic advice. This really encourages you as the patient to take an onus in self-managing your condition. Our telehealth services are provided by our software provider, Cliniko, in a private, secure and ethical way. You can book a clinical or telehealth consultation at bodytobalance.com.au or call 82881937. After booking you will receive an email confirmation with further instructions. Telehealth is covered by WorkSafe, Medicare CDMP & MHP, NDIS, and is currently being negotiated with most private health insurance funds.

Carson paused practicing Myotherapy today for the unforeseeable future but hopefully not for too long! For Carson’s patients he can still be contacted at carsonmacartney@gmail.com or via Telehealth appointments booked at bodytobalance.com.au or calling 82881937. Our 5 other allied health practitioners are currently still practicing and following the advice of the government and their respective associations.

The Federal Health Minister has confirmed that ALL allied health businesses nationally can continue working and are encouraged to do so. The Minister has also indicated that the Australian Government Department of Health is now developing full allied health telehealth options, along with other health and medical services, within the week. We will continue to update you with developments through the week. Keep well!
