Walk, run, jump, play your favourite sport or daily activities with ease and without the restriction that comes with sore painful aching feet. Have you seen a Podiatrist before? A Podiatrist is able to prevent, diagnose and treat feet and lower limb conditions.

Podiatry services include:

  • Diabetes and foot health – Do you have poor circulation or loss of sensation “peripheral neuropathy” in your feet? Regular podiatry assessment/treatment is required to prevent complications associated with diabetes and foot health such as wounds and ulcers which can lead to infection and in extreme cases amputation.
  • General skin and nail care – callous, painful debilitating corns, cracked heels, problematic nails (ingrown toe nails, thickened nails and fungal nail), tinea pedis, foot odour and warts (papillomas).
  • Foot deformities – including hammer toes and bunions.
  • Forefoot, arch and heel pain.
  • Biomechanical assessment, Gait Analysis and Sports injuries – common sports related injuries include plantar fasciitis, shin splints, ankle sprains and Achilles tendonitis. A comprehensive gait analysis can help determine possible related causes of injury from your biomechanics (body movement).
  • Orthoses – customised, semi customised or pre-fabricated orthoses are designed to maintain good foot posture and reduce the risk of foot pathology such as plantar fasciitis and bunions from occurring.
  • Paediatrics – Common children’s foot problems include in-toeing, toe walking and flat feet. Later childhood to early teen’s heel pain known as “Severs Disease” can occur.
  • Footwear advice – ill-fitting shoes can cause a great deal of discomfort such as ingrown nails, forefoot deformity (bunions), corns, forefoot/arch and heel pain. Be sure to have the right knowledge when making your next choice of footwear.

Body to Balance now provides a number of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) services which include:
• Safe Manual Handling Training
• Workplace Hazard, Risk & Control Assessments
• Ergonomic Workstation Assessments
• Health Screening & Health Monitoring of Employees
• Workplace Treatment & Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
• Injury Management & Return to Work Programs
• Pre-Employment Medical Examinations (through OH&Solutions)

In Victoria the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004 and the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation & Compensation Act 2013 state an employer has a responsibility to provide a safe working environment and when a worker becomes injured to manage this injury responsibly. Despite being a legal requirement, there is extensive research to indicate that OHS programs result in a healthy workforce that results in a vast number of benefits such as increased productivity, reduced work-related injuries and illnesses, staff loyalty and retention, a positive social climate and is usually more cost effective. Likewise, when OHS controls fail resulting in a work-related injury or illness early workplace identification, treatment and management including assisting a timely and safe return to work plan is effective in reducing the economic costs of the work-related injury or illness to the employer (Ellis, 2001; Waddell 2006; WorkSafe Victoria, 2013; Safework Australia, 2019; Safework Australia, 2020).
